Chemicals

PRé helps chemical companies understand the environmental impacts of their products and value chains, from feedstock to specialty and consumer applications. This enables more confident decisions across product development, portfolios, and sustainability reporting.

Industry challenges

Sustainability in the chemical sector is defined by growing regulatory pressure and increasing portfolio complexity, while infrastructure and data capabilities lag behind. Companies face challenges such as:

  • Managing complex, scope-3 intensive portfolios with limited visibility into hotspots and trade-offs
  • Delivering verified, audit-ready product carbon footprints (PCFs) to meet customer,  procurement, and regulatory expectations
  • Maintaining consistent environmental data and modeling logic across systems, business units, and regions
  • Reducing the environmental footprint of their products while balancing cost, performance, and margin requirements
  • Translating sustainability data into actionable insights for portfolio and product decisions

How we support companies in the chemical sector

PRé helps chemical companies move from isolated footprint studies to harmonised environmental modelling across products, portfolios, and reporting requirements.

We support you with:

  • Product environmental footprinting (LCA)
Assess impacts across the full lifecycle, from raw materials to end-use applications with audit-ready results
  • Capacity building
Turn external expertise into internal capability. We train your team to independently manage and scale LCA work, connecting it to the wider company picture. Training can be tailored to core LCA practice or extended to relevant adjacent fields, including wastewater treatment modelling, SSbD, and toxicity assessment, depending on your needs.
  • Portfolio-level analysis
Compare products across business units, identify carbon and energy hotspots, and prioritise actions
  • Scenario and material analysis
Evaluate reformulation pathways, alternative feedstocks, and performance-impact trade-offs. Identify the most promising design directions early,  so sustainability is built in from the start.
  • Methodology development
Build harmonised, audit-ready frameworks aligned with TfS, PEF, and evolving PCR requirements
  • Scalability and integration
Build scalable environmental modelling approaches that support product development, portfolio steering, and sustainability reporting across the organisation.
